BEING LED BY GOD'S WORD

Scripture Reading - Proverbs 6:20-22

20 My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
21 Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.
22 When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. KJV

These verses encourage us to keep God’s Word! We know the written Word of God’s is contained in the Holy Bible. The law of our mother could be considered the Law of Love which Jesus showed us by putting God first and others second. Remember showing God’s Love to others is the primary way we reflect Jesus. The Lord told us in John 13:35 that those who show love will be known as His disciples. Love is much more than an emotion or a compassionate feeling. Since love is commanded by God we must learn exactly what God’s Love is and know precisely how His Love operates, this is why God’s Word is so important. God’s Word teaches us about God and His Word also shows us how to love others and ourselves. We must keep God’s Word inside our spirit and we must live it outwardly for all to see. This deposit and keeping of God’s Word inside our heart is done by inward meditation and outward confession of God’s Word. We should develop our heart to understand and know the various promises of God spoken to us and for us. If we allow the Word of God to grow and mature inside of us we will reach a place of Word fruitfulness. Word fruitfulness simply means that we will hear the Word of God speaking back to us exactly what we previously read in the Holy Bible. When we experience these types of revelations His Word will lead us (this verse did not say the Holy Spirit will lead us) it clearly states the Word of God will lead us, and keep us when we sleep and talk with us when we get up. Therefore the Word of God must be the voice of God to us, and the only way we are going to know our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ is to know God’s Word intimately and practically. Amen.
